I often imagine quite touching relationships between varied and assorted items of street architecture such as manholes, electricity boxes and drainpipes, as in this example.

These two weary warriors, the weathered stone column standing stoically next to his poor old pal the half-burnt junction box... comparing war wounds and watching the decades descend... making an admirable effort to look presentable for the odd passing photographer...
